The Charter of UNESCO for Pag lace

In 2010, Pag lace was included on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Pag lace was entered in the register of UNESCO together with Hvar and Lepoglava lace and has become one of the seven intangible cultural property from the Croatian entered in the register. This recognition made Croatia the country with the most protected intangible cultural heritages in Europe.

That same year, director of the Croatian Ministry of Culture 2010, Jasen Mesić, on behalf of the Minister Božo Biskupić, handed the royal charter from the headquarters of UNESCO to the Mayor of the town of Pag Ante Fabijanić, the Benedictine Monastery of St. Margaret and the Pag Lacemakers Association "Frane Budak," who are responsible for preserving the tradition of lacemaking in Pag.
