The Town of Pag proclaimed 2010 as
"Year of Pag lace" and organized, for the first time, First
International Lace Festival from 19th to 22nd June, under the patronage of the
Embassy of the Republic of Austria and supported by the Ministry of Culture,
Ministry of Tourism and Zadar County. Representatives and lacemakers from
Germany, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Croatia attended to this

In 2010, Pag lace was placed on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Pag lace was entered in the register of UNESCO together with Hvar and Lepoglava lace and became one of the Seven intangible cultural property from the Croatia entered in the register.
In 1906, the Mayer of Pag Frane Budak together with the nuns from Benedictine Monastery of St. Margarita started The School of Pag Lace that trained lacemakers until 1945. Since 1945 until 1993 the school worked with fewer interruptions. In 1994 school was combined with the high school "Bartul Kašić” in Pag, and to this day work as part of it.
